Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Custom Control Drivers ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the RTi Companion Android application ("the App") and the associated relay service ("the Service") operated at relay.customcontroldrivers.com.

Information we do not collect

The App does not collect any of the following:

• Personally identifying information (name, address, email, phone number)
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data
• Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
• Crash reports unless you voluntarily submit one
• Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera data

The App contains no third-party advertising and no third-party trackers.

Information stored on your device

The App stores the following on your phone, in app-private storage:

• Relay server hostname and port
• Project identifier and pairing token (used to authenticate with your installer’s RTI driver)
• Your customized button labels and command bindings

This information stays on your device. Uninstalling the App removes it. We do not back it up to our servers.

Information transmitted through the Service

The App and the RTI driver communicate through the Service to send control commands (e.g. “turn on Kitchen Ceiling”) and receive device state updates (e.g. “Kitchen Ceiling is on”). All such traffic is encrypted in transit using TLS.

The Service forwards these messages between your phone and your RTI processor. It records only the most recent state of each bound device in volatile memory, so newly-connected app sessions can render the correct state immediately. Nothing is written to long-term storage on our servers and nothing is logged that identifies you personally.

Account information on our servers

To use the Service, an installer or end user must obtain a project ID and pairing token from us. We store the project ID and a one-way cryptographic hash of the pairing token. We never store the plaintext token; it is shown to the operator exactly once at creation. No email address, name, or other personal information is required.

Third parties

The Service is hosted on Fly.io infrastructure. Network traffic to and from the Service necessarily passes through their network and is governed by their privacy policy as a sub-processor. We do not share any data with advertisers, analytics providers, or other third parties.

Children

The App is intended for use by adult installers and end users of RTI control systems. It is not directed at children under 13.

Security

We use industry-standard TLS encryption for all traffic between the App, the driver, and the Service. Pairing tokens are stored only as one-way hashes on our servers. You should treat your pairing token as a secret; sharing it allows another device to control your RTI processor.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App or Service changes. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Material changes will be surfaced in the App or via release notes.
